John Gilbert, renowned luthier, is a perfectionist in the old style handcrafting of each guitar until it met his stringent standards. However, he could never find a set of tuners that lived up to his expectations.

He decided to create his own tuners from scratch, and developed the Gilbert Tuning Machines. These tuners have been engineered to eliminate backlash. The guitar can be tuned by turning the tuner knob forwards or backwards, until the desired tone is achieved.

Gilbert Tuners come with a wide variety of decorative options. These options include:

  • Plate: Traditional Gold, Black, Nickel, or Black single
  • Knob: Snakewood, Ebony, Imitation Mother of Pearl
  • Dot: Ebony, Snakewood, Abalone, Mother of Pearl
  • Roller: Black or White rollers
John has since retired and passed the knowledge down to his son-in-law, Greg Matonis, a skilled machinist.
